Garmin Fenix 6 Pro
High-end GPS watch for outdoor sport
Pros: Rugged, precise, info is easy to see
Cons: Bulky, possibly too many features, price
Garmin says the watch is designed for all-day wearability.
“This rugged device puts advanced training status, running/cycling dynamics and environmentally adjusted VO2 max estimates right at your fingertips,” the manufacturer says.
“You can track runs, hikes, rounds of golf and even your time on the slopes,” a reviewer said.
“In terms of the breadth of activities tracked it's in a league of its own, but the nearest competitors are the Suunto 9 and Polar Grit X.”
Another reviewer said the watch is worth every cent if you want a watch that will retain its value for more than a few months.
“The Fenix 6 Pro has improved battery performance and screen size compared to the Five, while not increasing the overall physical size or weight of the watch,” he said.
“Battery life has been improved thanks to the different battery modes that can extend battery life.
“The large screen size makes it easy to see the data fields.”
A drawback is that first-time Fenix users may find the watch bulky.
"Wearing this timepiece for sport is fine, but it's not suitable for all-day casual use," said another reviewer.
At 83 grams, the Fenix 6 is heavier than the 6s version which weighs 61g and the Polar Grit X (64g).
This watch costs R12 999 compared to the Polar Grit X (R8 999) and Suunto 9 (R8 499).
