Fox Dropframe
Mountain bike helmet designed for the sport of Enduro
Pros:
Full-head coverage
Good venting and reasonable weight considering the coverage
Cons:
Fixed peak and no adjustment cradle
A good helmet is essential to staying safe and comfortable while mountain biking.
Many find Fox products stylish. It’s a cult brand and in typical fashion this helmet looks edgy.
Fox says the Dropframe Pro is ideal for trail riders seeking more coverage, confidence and fun.
“Superlight and comfortable, this open-faced enduro helmet features MIPS, a dual-density Varizorb EPS liner, and increased coverage for the ears, jaw, and back of the head,” the manufacturer says.
A reviewer likes the Dropframe’s open face, extra-coverage design.
“Lids that look like this tend to divide opinion, but there’s no denying that extra protection is attractive.
“The Dropframe doesn’t have an adjustable retention cradle. Its fit can only be adjusted by changing the pads, so try before you buy,” he said.
“While the Dropframe isn’t light compared to standard open-face helmets, at 478g (medium), the weight isn’t bad considering the coverage and, as it’s so well distributed, the lid never feels top-heavy,” said another reviewer.
“The fixed peak doesn’t disturb your view, but I’d prefer it to move upwards for goggle stowage.”
Price: R3 800.
